Detailing Policies & Frequently Asked Questions
Before dropping your vehicle off to be detailed please remove all personal belongs.
Although I will take the utmost care with anything left inside your vehicle, I cannot be held
responsible for any personal items left behind. If you would like the inside of your center console
or glove box cleaned please remove all of those items as well. After detailing is a great time for a
fresh start and re-organization of what you keep in your vehicle. If you have any magnets on your
vehicle please remove those as well. I will not remove any stickers from your car unless requested.
Detailing is probably one
of the least understood, but most valuable services you can get for your vehicle. Your vehicle is your
second best investment, which is very important to us as well. Regular auto detailing will protect and
keep your vehicle looking new as long as you own it, and the return value will be more profitable to you.
If your vehicle has been neglected, detailing will restore a showroom look and feel. If you are selling or
trading your vehicle, a detail will assure a quicker sale while increasing the value hundreds or even
thousands of dollars.
If it happens to rain
the day of your appointment we can reschedule your appointment or I can store your vehicle until the rain has
stopped and the roads have dried. All efforts will be made to accommodate appointment requests in regards to
weather issues. I offer a free mobile maintenance wash after your detail under case by case rain situations.
When properly performed, hand washing is the safest and most thorough method of cleaning the exterior of
your vehicle. It is recommended to wash your car every rainfall to remove contaminants that may have settled
or about every 5-7 days if no rainfall has occurred. You may need to wash more frequently depending upon
construction or dusty conditions. Another key factor in detailing your vehicle is to make sure the vehicle
is always washed and all bugs are removed after a long trip. If not removed, the bugs have acid that will
eat into the vehicle’s finish.
Paint systems
vary in their characteristics between makes and also between similar models with different production dates.
Some of the newer German cars, for instance, can have hard paints, particularly the ceramiclear paints with
ceramic particles in them which make them very hard-wearing but a job-and-a-half to refine by polishing.
On the other hand, I have detailed cars with paint so soft that I had to select certain top-quality microfiber
finishing cloths that were the only cloths that would not mar the paint on contact. So each company's product
has its pros and limitations and it more often boils down to expertise in combining products with machine
types and buffing speeds and pressure and pads to attain the desired end result.
A wax job typically
last between 3-4 months. Our paint sealant last
approximately 6-9 months our sealant last longer because of the high grade of product
that we use. However, the amount of protection time varies due to the behavior of the customer. The more
automatic car washes you go thru the protection time decreases. The more you protect your car from the
elements the longer the protection time increases. (If your car is garaged kept as opposed to parked
outside, the garage protects your car so the sealant or wax does not have to work).
A polish is designed to remove minor surface imperfections such as scratches, spotting and oxidation.
Polishes work with abrasives and/or chemical cleaners to flatten or level, the surface. For example, a
clear coat scratch can reflect light from its microscopic edges. That’s what makes it stand out from the
surrounding area. A polish can smooth out, or level, the edges, reducing the amount of light the scratch
reflects. In many cases, a polish can completely remove minor surface scratches and other imperfections.
